PORTAGE TOWNSHIP YMCA
The Portage YMCAs Active Learning Preschool Academy is a 9-month program. Our dedicated teachers help children reach their full potential in an academically structured environment using Teaching Strategies Gold Curriculum and their holistic approach to incorporate all aspects of childhood development. The Y works closely with PTS Kindergarten teachers to assist us in remaining current on all the requirements your child will need for school success. We are a CCDF Provider for all offerings.
We understand that parents value early childhood education and want their child in school as much as possible. However, our classroom age regulations are in place so that children remain in their same age cohorts rather than being mixed with older or younger students. Our August 1st cut-off is the same as Portage Township Schools. Exceptions are only made for students born before September 1st and a waiver MUST be approved by Portage Township Schools. ONLY students entering kindergarten in the Fall of the following school year, turning 4 by 8/1/26 or by 9/1/26 with approved PTS waiver will be permitted in 4-day and 5-day class offerings.

2026-2027 School Year Information
The 2026- 2027 School Year runs Tuesday, September 8, 2026 thru Friday, May 14, 2027, following the Portage Township Schools Calendar for most holidays and breaks.
Students who are promoted to Kindergarten in Fall 2027, will be celebrated at a formal Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, May 15, 2027.
First months class fees are due by September 1, 2026 and continue monthly through May 1, 2027. A non-refundable $50 registration fee is due at the time of registration. Automatic monthly payments are required.
The Portage Township YMCA Active Learning Preschool Academy is a Registered Ministry through the State of Indiana which allows us to accept CCDF Vouchers for all of our class offerings.
All children are required to submit a current health physical form and current shot record. These forms must be on the premise no later than the first day of class.
